Course description

A great option for those students that are looking to make the most out of their language learning experience. It includes our basic Intensive course with 20 group lessons per week, plus 10 private lessons that can be used for going over the topics learned in the group course, to do more one-on-one practice, cover special topics you are interested in (be it cultural, Latin American history or language for specific purposes, etc.) or progressing with more advanced skills.

This course is suited for students of all levels.

Founded in 1986, Academia Tica is a leader in Spanish teaching in Central America. School location

Coronado is a truly Costa Rican town in the mountains near San José city (25 min by bus). It has some of the most beautiful scenic landscapes close to the capital city, but far away enough so you can concentrate on your studies. Although small, is a favorite destination for some of the restaurants that have settled here and also interesting eco-touristic attractions.

Students can enjoy one of the most important cloud forests in Central America: Braulio Carrillo National Park, which starts in the upper part of the Coronado county, there, you can go for a hike in the forest between the mountains and maybe you'll find a radiant quetzal!

Nearby Moravia (15 min by bus) and San José have exciting things to do and places to go after class: movie theaters, shopping malls, restaurants and places to eat, nightclubs, bars, and museums. A short walk in the city would reveal why San José is one of the most lovable cities according to Monocle magazine in 2013.

The accommodations were good and I felt comfy staying there. The schools were great especially the teachers! As an advice: I would prefer having test sometimes, because a lot of people including me learn and study better and more with pressure. But nevertheless I can recommend that school to everyone:)

Visa support

We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.

Your letter of acceptance will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you. If you wish to receive your paperwork by express mail, you will be charged $30 when you register.

Flights and airport transfer

Please note that we do not book flights for our students. If you are researching airfare costs, we recommend using Kayak.com, a search engine that lets you compare flight options from your home country to San Jose based on your budget, schedule and preferences.

Travel insurance
